Elbow

Elbow, or Elbow Jake's, was a stop along the stage route connecting Carson City and Aurora (and by extension Bodie). It was so named for its location on a prominent bend of the Walker River. In the early 1860s, the station was comprised of a frame house, stables, and corrals. Here, the station keeper raised cattle and operated a dairy for Aurora. Though a post office operated briefly in 1881, Elbow didn't last and nothing remains at the site today.
