American Canyon
Despite its name, American Canyon was actually a Chinese placer camp following the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad. From 1884 until 1895, as many as 3000 Chinese laborers worked in the area, and an estimated $9 million was recovered - more than any other placer operation in Nevada to date!
