Fairview
[Not to be confused with Fairview in Churchill County]
After the Gold Run District was organized in 1866, T.G. Negus ordered equipment to install an eight-stamp mill with thirteen amalgamating pans at Fairview (initially referred to as Negusville) to treat ore from the Golconda and Hope mines. The Negus or Golconda Mill was placed into operation by mid-December, and in six months it was reported that $300/day was being produced. At this time, ore was even being brought in from mines near Battle Mountain. The mill, fueled by sagebrush, operated until about 1873. After that, Fairview silently disappeared.
