Panaca Summit Charcoal Kilns

These two kilns were built in the mid-1870s to produce charcoal for the mills at Pioche and Bullionville. There was originally a third kiln, but it has since vanished. The kilns were used until the 1890s, when the mills at Bullionville were closed. A detailed description of the charcoal production process can be found on a historic marker at the site (photo below).
