Bass Camp

Albert A. Bass, a native of Missouri, arrived in Nevada around 1890 and was among the first settlers of Tonopah in 1901. In 1908, Bass and his wife Anna built a unique home under a large granite boulder near a new strike, at or near what would become the short-lived camp of Ibex. Though the Ibex camp wouldn't last, the Bass family would spend the rest of their lives at their isolated cabins. Mrs. Bass died in June of 1930, followed by Mr. Bass on March 11, 1934. In the almost-century since, the claim was worked by Roy Ladd and at least one other.
