Sunshine Station

Sunshine Station was a toll house on the road between Bodie and Aurora. It was also known as Half Way House due to its position between the two. The road was established in 1862, and eventually connected with the Esmeralda Toll Road to Carson City. Though Sunshine Station's exact year of construction isn't known, author Stanley Paher notes that the station keeper was active in the 1870s. It is also known that Sunshine Station was one of two stops in the 1880s and 1890s when the toll road was operated by Hank Blanchard (the other being Blanchard's Toll House, closer to Bodie).
