Willow Grove Station
Willow Grove Station, also simply known as Willow Station, was a stop on the Columbus Wagon Road connecting that camp to Aurora. That road was completed in 1874 under the supervision of J.J. Holmes (Division Superintendent of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad), and Willow Grove Station was likely built around that time. It is referred to as "Holmes Willow" in at least one document, though there is no confirmation that Holmes himself ever operated the station.
By 1881, Willow Grove Station was under the ownership of Jacob and Rachael Wichmann. Mrs. Wichmann and infant son Jacob both died ealier in that year, and were buried at the Aurora Cemetery. Before the end of 1887 a new station was opened a few miles away, and Willow Grove was presumably abandoned.
