Lima
(Williamsburg)

Mining in the early 1860s led to the formation of the Sacramento District, and in 1865 a small camp called Williamsburg came to life. Before long, Williamsburg became known as Lima and at its peak boasted a post office, hotel, restaurant, saloon, meat market, grocery store, and telegraph office to serve its purported population of fifty. Unfortunately, flooding was a problem in Lima's mines and before the end of 1867 the hotel, store, and post office were closed.
