Long Ranch

Frank Long was a miner from Battle Mountain, who spent time in Churchill County before arriving at Kennedy in 1897. He remained in that camp for five years before selling his home and purchasing three parcels of land in Pleasant Valley from Jules Sarret. There he established a ranch, which by 1905 was noted to have a 1½ story home, fruit and poplar trees, and 120 hay-producing acres. Long died in 1906, and having no heirs left his property to several nieces and nephews. Sometime thereafter the ranch was purchased by Sylvain Siard and added to his holdings. It is unknown when it was finally abandoned, but only foundations remain of the home and barn today beside a windmill that has seen better days.
