Sunkist

[Not to be confused with Sunkist in Washoe County]

Sunkist was a small ranch, probably first established around 1912 when J.H. Dolan and Michael McHugh applied for water rights; it appears as "Dolan's Cabin" on a 1914 survey plat. In 1918, McHugh sold his holdings - 138 acres - to Miguel (Miquel) Zubiri, who raised sheep there into the early 1920s. Zubiri had arrived in Nevada in 1909 from Spain, and moved on to California sometime in the late 1920s. He died in Sacramento in 1953.
